Prison Call is a UK-based service that helps families and friends save money on prison calls by providing a virtual landline number. When your loved one calls this number from inside prison, the call is charged at the standard landline rate, which is cheaper than calling a mobile. The call then automatically forwards to your mobile, so you can speak to your loved one without paying high rates.
This means more talking time for them and lower costs for both of you. Once you sign up, your number is usually activated the same day, and you can start receiving calls right away.
Our plans start from £19.99 per month, which covers the cost of your virtual landline. There are no setup fees and no hidden charges. When your loved one calls, they are charged the standard landline rate, which is currently around 6p per minute, compared to mobile rates that can be up to 25p per minute. This means you can can make a huge saving compared to regular mobile call charges.
Yes. The prisoner still pays for the call from their PIN phone credit, but it’s much cheaper for them to call a landline than a mobile. This allows them to talk to you for longer without running out of credit as quickly.
For example, a 10-minute call to a mobile might cost around £2.50, whereas a 10-minute call to your virtual landline would be around 60p.
Once you sign up, your virtual landline number is usually sent to your email within minutes. In some cases, it may take up to an hour, but same-day activation is guaranteed. Be sure to check your junk or spam folder if it doesn’t arrive in your inbox, or contact us for further support.
If the inmate in prison calls another number, using the prison phone, that isn’t connected to our service, the call will go through as usual but won’t benefit from the reduced rates. If they move to a different prison, just let us know, and we can update the details to ensure their calls continue to be cost-effective. When the inmate is moved to another prison, their approved PIN numbers automatically follows thought-out their sentence. It is not uncommon for a prisoner to move several times throughout their sentence.
No app is required. Prison Call works like a normal phone call. Once your number is active and your loved one’s PIN list has been updated, all calls will come through to your mobile automatically.
Yes. There are no long-term contracts with Prison Call. If you wish to cancel, simply fill in our cancellation form, and your service will be stopped at the end of your billing period.
We make it easy and hassle-free, with no hidden cancellation fees.
If your payment fails, your landline number will be temporarily paused until the balance is cleared. Payments will automatically retry after a few days. Once cleared, your number will be reactivated immediately.
Sometimes, prison officers may remove numbers for various reasons. If this happens, you can simply resubmit the number for approval. If the prison refuses it, we can also issue you a new number at no extra cost.
Currently, Prison Call only supports UK landline numbers. We do not support international numbers at this time.
